Research For Websites
  The websites I choose is Acer's website (http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/home). Acer is a Taiwanese multinational hardware and electronics cooperation.

  Here's some of the screenshot of the homepage.




PROS/CON
  
  The overall of this website is excellent. The layout design is clean and neat, it is all organized and label with all information. The main color scheme is dark grey, grey and white which is very useful to bring their production. Their products are well branded, details and info are given properly.

  The only thing that bothers is the homepage's image slider. Images in the slider are fading too fast, making our eyes uncomfortable. Lastly, their store location doesn't provide enough information. For example: Customers only know about websites like Amazon.com, etc. My opinion is, if they provides the local store location near their customer's area will be more convenient.

ACER

  In the year of late 90s, Their logo used a diamond shape with red and blue to represent their production. Nowadays, the new logo came out with a idea of more curves and round corners which give them a more less visual impact but a smoother looking. Their color scheme changed from simple red and blue to a delightful apple green. The only thing that remains from the old to new logo is the type of font is always slanted. The new logo does not use capital letter.






  Acer main target customers mostly age above 25-40. Their products is suitable for education,business and family users. They also released a gaming series for laptops, desktops and tablets. The gaming series are suitable for most teenagers between 15-25 years old. The gaming series's performance is very furfilling for youngster which allows them to carry out their ideas.

Branding, Art Direction and Color Scheme

The branding for every Acer's products have different color scheme and designs.

For this example shows the the Acer's Aspire series branding design and color scheme. They used blue and light grey for the background as ornament for this site.

The overview of product. After introduction for the product, down here they used pure white for the background to bring out their product which make our eyes quickly focus on the product. The color of font itself can be seen easily.

  The next example is the Predator series site. The design and color scheme is completely different from the others site.

  The layout for this site is more to a modern style. Used large image to present the product, does not requires any sliders but scrolling down to view more. The images including information with less words and straight to the point. Used image to create visual impact, an effective way to gain customer's attention.The design of this site is based on rectangle shape to build up the layout.

  Further more, the color scheme for this site is mainly black and dark grey plus red color for the touch up and the highlights for the product. The overall of color scheme for this site match the product's color and easy to bring out the content itself . Also, teenagers are font of black color. Conclusion for this site is eye-catching.


Typography 

The typography that this website apply have various of font in each product's site. They used different font to fit their products. Example:

  This is the main site, the typo font they apply is Calibri . A simple and the most basic type of font.

 Example for the Acer Chromebook. The type font is Trebuchet MS. The font is more to curves and a formal looking.

Here is the Acer gaming series site. The shape of the font use square and sharp edges to match the product's design. The font itself  looks compressed which give it a high-end looking.


Research on User Interface Design

 The UI Design in this website is simple and understanding. They are easy to use because the design is organized properly.


This image shown their sitemap at homepage. It show the navigation when your mouse hover on it, it also rollover the image when you hover on the object and gently changed to a darker color to highlight certain part. Their sitemap is very organized, every products has been classified.





Next, is the services section of the website. This site doesn't give too much information and the content is straight forward. Customer can sign in by pressing the 'Sign In' button.


  Moving on, This is the slider in the homepage. The slider transitions itself does fade out when the image changing, but the fading is too quick which cause the audience's eyes uncomfortable. Besides that, the slider didn't have much image to show but the audience can know more about the content by clicking the 'EXPLORE' button.




  The production in the content is the newest model, the content can be seen easily by customers when they rolling down from the main image slider. Their website used rollover transition to highlight the object when our mouse hover over it.

  Down below the content show more information about Acer. Same thing as the rollover image, it darken the background color to focus the content when the mouse hover on it. It also show description about the content.



  Then, the bottom site of the website show the navigation about Acer. This could help customer to find out more besides the production. Customer can sign up their account using their email. Down below the sign in bar, there are also the link to Acer's social website. The design show how Acer care about their customer and serve them well.



  Last thing is whenever customer click in any production, down below the product have the link to store location, account signing in and the support for the product. Customer can quickly find out which webstore, for example: Amozon.com. The only bad is their site did not show the location of the stores in their customer place but still web-buying is much more convenient.
